The Pope's Death and the Royal Wedding

As the name suggests, I'll be circulating this newsletter monthly, at around the time of each New Moon. Read on for all kinds of information about what’s happening in the heavens and how these energy flows may be influencing our lives over the next few weeks.

About New Moons
So why send a newsletter at the time of the New Moon? Well, it’s because I'm planting a seed, and hoping that it will grow … The principle works like this: every month we have a new growth cycle, which starts at the time of the New Moon. The dark of the New Moon is a symbolic winter, a time for preparing the ground and planting seeds of opportunity. As the Moon waxes each month it symbolically moves through summer towards autumn, or ripeness, at around the time of the Full Moon, when the seeds previously planted will be flourishing and fulfilling their promise. Then the opportunity for planting is past until the next New Moon, as the current cycle fades with the Moon’s waning crescent. Each New Moon occurs in a particular sign of the zodiac, which will flavour the energy of the growth period. This month’s New Moon occurs on April 8th, at 20h33 in the sign of Aries, which gives the month a very dynamic energy, the energy of achievement for those who dare to step forward and take advantage of it. So if you have something to achieve, plant your seed now and see how it develops as the New Moon gains in light.

A Wedding and a Funeral

Whilst we’re on the subject of using the Moon’s energy positively, two very good examples of this have been prominent in the news of late.

April 8th is the funeral of Pope John Paul II, a man who has inspired the love, admiration and devotion of millions of followers around the world. At the time of the ceremony which lays this iconic Pope to rest, the Moon was moving into the very last stages of its waning phase, symbolising closure on what is past. It is so very apt that the funeral took place as the moon’s cycle moved into its deepest 'winter', in preparation of a new spring to come as a new Pope is elected.

Because of the funeral of the Pope, royals Charles and Camilla were obliged to move the date of their wedding to April 9th. They may never know how lucky they were! The original wedding date, April 8th, had astrologers worldwide speculating as to how long (or short-lived!) a marriage contracted on this day might be. The astrological reasons for this are many, but crucially the original date would have seen them married when the Moon, the object which represents the very pulse and rhythm of our daily lives, was symbolically dying. This, of course, wouldn’t have augured well for a long and happy union! Not only that, but on April 8th there was also a solar eclipse. Eclipses are celestial wild cards, bringing with them bursts of unpredictable energy. This may have followed through into the marriage, leading to unpredictable and perhaps unpleasant consequences. Amazingly, Prince Charles first marriage to Diana also took place on a waning Moon and just before a solar eclipse: and history bears witness to how that one turned out. Hopefully the happy couple this weekend will harness the positive energy of the New Moon, avoiding the full force of the eclipse and will move into a long and happy married life.
